David Shipway - 50 Years at BL Shipway
What a massive innings...
On April 27th 1970, a 19-year old kid from Clovelly Park started working at BL Shipway. Having come within a whisker of becoming the first public servant to be retrenched from the SA Water Board due to a "disciplinary matter", he accepted his Uncle Bern's invitation to keep him occupied until he found what he wanted to do.
Needless to say, he mustn't have found it yet...
Congratulations to our Managing Director, David Shipway AM, on the 50th anniversary of him starting work with us here at BL Shipway.
A whole lot has changed in that time, but we strive to maintain the same focus on our customers, especially with the current challenges of COVID-19.
The photo shown above is of a young David playing to his strengths, entertaining suppliers and colleagues at the Grand Opening of our Richmond warehouse about 40 years ago. From left to right is David, the late Bill Hayward (former General Manager, RYCO Hydraulics), the late Gene Raymond (former BL Shipway employee) and the late Brian Vogt (former Director, BL Shipway).
